兵庫県、大阪府、鳥取県。イトウ、エトウは稀少。愛知県蒲郡市でエトウが存在。兵庫県加東市栄枝付近（旧：依藤野）から発祥。記録時代不詳の地名。同地を鎌倉時代初期から根拠地としたと伝える。姓は「寄藤」とも表記した。兵庫県西脇市和田町に分布あり。京都府京都市で1392年（明徳3年・元中9年）に藤原が本姓の依藤氏の記録あり。藤原参照。福井県小浜市城内が藩庁の小浜藩士に江戸時代にあった。
