①地形。三つの林から。三重県桑名市五反田、三重県員弁郡東員町大木に分布あり。三重県中部（旧：伊勢国）で780年（宝亀11年）に三林公の氏姓を賜った事例があった。
②群馬県館林市上三林町・下三林発祥。江戸時代に記録のある地名。地名はミバヤシ。新潟県新潟市北区太田に江戸時代にあった。
