鹿児島県、宮崎県、神奈川県。ホウガサコも含む分布。ホガサコは稀少。鹿児島県伊佐市大口篠原の小字の芳ケ迫から発祥。同地に江戸時代に門割制度の芳ケ迫門があった。地名、門名の推定での発音はホガサコ。門による明治新姓。
