① Origin of the southwestern part of Oosaka-fu (formerly Izumi-kun). As the county name is a place name recorded in 716 (2nd year of the spirit Turtle).

② Topography . A variant of a 泉 . Kagoshima-ken Minamisatsuma-shi From the Izumi Gate of the gate division system that was in the Edo era in the Kinpimachi Oshima.

③ Creation . Kagoshima-ken Amami-shi In Nagase Daichi Okuma tells that "Wa" was added to the spring which is the surname of Amagi archipelago of Kagoshima-ken . Estimated at the time of returning to Japan in 1953.
