① Kumamoto-ken Hitoyoshi-shi Meiji New surname by monk of Bigashi-ji Temple in Ohata-cho Jodo Shinshu.葎 means "weeds".

② In Hokkaidou , toyama-ken Nanto-shi (formerly Toyomonami- gun castle town) tells that the east (Azuma) branch whose family name was last called from Kaya in place name. Estimated in the Edo period. Location unknown. 東 Higashi reference.
