Gunma-ken Numata-shi In Tonamachi-cho, pronounce Takasaki surname as kozaki and tell Takasaki's high altitude to "instep" because it is Yamanashi-ken (formerly Kai) country. Estimated in the Edo period. Kai is a place name with a record since the Asuka period. There is an example where the instep means "northeast East".
